Video: Is Nationalisation Delivering Value or a Tick Box Exercise?
🔵 In this video on the DisruptEd podcast with Dr. Adil Alzarooni, CEO of Citizens School we discuss the dilemma facing Emiratisation and employment initiatives in the Gulf countries (GCC) when it comes to employment in the private sector.
Here are some questions I would like to pose:
💡 Do employers hire for the 'value' national employees can bring to the company?
☑️ Or is it a Tick Box exercise to comply with government quotas set for the private sector?
💡 Are Quotas working?
(I personally think they are increasing the number of nationals in the private sector, however it should also focus on the quality of hires and enable them to deliver real value)
💡 What should be done to ensure not only quotas are achieved but there is REAL value both sides (employers and employees) gain.
